The Mustang debuted at the World’s Fair in New York on April 17, 1964. The vice president and general manager of Ford at the time, Lee Iacocca, and Ford planned to sell 100,000 of the vehicles that year. Exceeding expectations, the dealers sold 22,000 on the first day, and by August, Ford sold 120,000 Mustangs.
As the Mustang has evolved over the years, new models have wowed car enthusiasts and the general public with its newest model, the new Mustang Mach-E model reinventing the car’s mystique. The original model featured the Fairlane’s engine and manual transmission, but other options included the V-8s, a 4-speed manual, and 3-speed automatic features. By the close of 1965, not only had the car been featured in the 1964 film Goldfinger, but it had sold almost 700,000 vehicles.
By the 1980s, the car had been reinvented a few times, but this time, the car featured a Fox design, which made for more space. In the 1990s, the Mustang got a lift when the convertible model appeared in a Vanilla Ice video.
The car continued its evolution to its newer, innovative design producing a sleeker model at the turn of the millennia. Described as a distant cousin to Lincoln LS or the Jaguar S-Type, it exchanged its 4.0 liter V-6 and 4.6-liter and V-8 for the new 3.7 liters V-6 and 5.0-liter and V-8. In 2015, the Mustang was in its sixth generation and was redesigned. The style is similar to the 2005 version, but the newer version has superior handling and is a better ride.
The 2021 version of the iconic car has something new for customers. The Mustang Mach-E is an all-electric SUV available with standard and extended-range battery options that have either all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive, powered through permanent magnet motors. With this version, travelers can drive at least 300 miles with one charge.
Car buyers can also choose from one of two versions, one moves faster than the Porsche, and the other is comparable to a version of the Porsche. The GT can move from 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds, moving faster than the Porsche Macan Turbo. The GT Performance Edition moves from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds faster than Porsche GTS.
The car’s performance includes sportier steering controls, ambient lighting, sounds that create the all-electric feeling, and cluster animations. This version comes with the ability to apply torque to the front and rear axles, which maximizes acceleration and improves the handling of the vehicle.
This newer Mustang technology has integrated Sync’s communication and entertainment system. Through machine learning, the car’s computer system learns the preferences of the driver, transmitted through over-the-air updates. Drivers will also be pleased to know that they can control the car’s functions without dealing with complicated menus. Instead, drivers that own smartphones can swipe, touch, and pinch controls easily.
Finally, the manufacturer retained the car’s design through advanced battery technology that allowed them to fit it under the car’s underbody. At the same time, this allowed Ford’s engineers to create enough space to accommodate five passengers and cargo.
The car embodies a sleek, modern design providing drivers and passengers with an armrest that doubles as storage for purses or bags and providing a lot of room to drive in comfort. Drivers are also given Phone-as-Key technology allowing them to access and start the vehicle.
